District NM01
New Mexico NBHA District NM01 is the entire county of San Juan in northwestern New Mexico.

Members are required to attend 6 of the district races in order to qualify for finals. District NM01 finals are held in March each year. Each member is asked to obtain a $50 sponsorship which enables us to provide great awards and added money at finals. 100% of the profits at each race go toward year-end awards.

We have a strong working membership of 100 plus. The members in District 1 are always willing to help; these races are put on by barrel racers for barrel racers. These races are not possible without the strong membership. We hold 18-20 races per year with up to 175 contestants at some races.

For all races, the book close and draw will occur at one hour prior to the start of race.  With a $10.00 late charge for entering after the draw. Entry fees are $38 (open) and $28 (youth). $20 (Senior) Some larger races are pre-entry and books close early. A Bulletin board with District information is posted at each race.

Remember that everyone's sponsorship of $50 is due by July 1, after that it goes up $10 per month.  I'll be ordering prizes in July and August before school starts so if you have ideas on what you would like to see please let me or a Representative know, all and any help is appreciated.  Also please spread this information to other members who are not on the internet.

New for 2011 - Mulligans!

At all non-world sanctioned NM-1 races (except the finals) we will be offering a mulligan opportunity.

This means if you have a no time in a class you may pay to run again and replace your time. If it was a carry over time you will pay more since it impacts two classes. The fee to run again will be slightly lower (for example on our regular fees of $38 a mulligan fee will be $30). You must have someone come up to the entry stand and pay your entry before the last drag or immediately after you run if you are in the last drag. You will run again after the last regular racer in the order you re-enter.

The mulligan entry fee will be put toward added money at our district finals to be held in March 2012.

Please call Kathy if you have questions.
